 Retailers must 'surprise and delight' to get customers in-store as online sales rise.

A special instore experience that enhances a retail brand and creates a dynamic social destination for customers is the key to combatting the rise and rise of online retailing.

Franchising expert and Adjunct Professor, Michael Sherlock, the former MD of Brumby’s Bakeries and co-facilitator of the Franchise Growth Masterclass, has just returned from a retail study tour to the USA with the Large Format Retail Association.

He said providing a compelling in-store retail experience is the key trend sweeping the USA retail sector as it tackles ever-growing online sales, currently at 5-6% and forecast to more than treble to 15-20% in the near future.
